Summer Dinner Struggles Are Real
If you’re anything like me, summertime brings one big daily question:
“What’s for dinner… that won’t heat up my entire house?”
Between running kids around, working, and trying to keep the house cool, the last thing I want is to turn on the stove or oven. That’s exactly why my Blackstone Griddle has become my go-to summer cooking solution, it's a real game changer. We have both the 36" Griddle and the smaller 22" tabletop griddle.
Blackstone griddle allows me to keep the heat outside; this is huge when it gets into the upper 80's and 90s. My house stays cool and the cleanup compared to cooking inside is minimal.
Blackstone has a large enough surface that i can cook multiple items at one so everything is ready at the same time. It also allows the entire family to sit down as a unit and eat at the same time instead of eating in shifts due to the larger cooking surface.
You’re not limited like a traditional grill. Here are some of our favorites:
Smash burgers with crispy edges
Toasted Buns
Bar-B-Que Chicken
Fried Zucchini
Breakfast (eggs, bacon, pancakes)
Chicken fajitas
Grilled sandwiches
Quesadillas
Honestly, once you start using it, you’ll find excuses to cook on it.
Let’s Talk About Cross Contamination (Quick but Important)
Because everything cooks on one flat surface, this comes up a lot. Yes—cross contamination can happen if you’re not careful. Use the "Zone" approach:
One side for raw meat
One side for cooked food/veggies
I cook meat first, then move it
I do a quick scrape + wipe before cooking other items
I keep separate utensils when needed
Once you get into the habit, it becomes second nature.
Cleanup Is Easier Than You Think
Blackstone griddle is cast iron so after cooking, clean-up is simple:
Scrape off food bits
Add a little water (steam clean)
Wipe it down
Light oil coat
Done in a few minutes.
Blackstone Accessories
Blackstone has many accessories to keep your griddle in good operating order. They carry Griddle hoods, silicon mats, and grill covers.
One tip we learned the hard way. The "grease catcher" at the back of the grill is messy to clean up. "Mom advice is to purchase the grease foil liners, so you don't experience clean up mess like I did, yuck."
