I used to dread filling large planters. One pot could eat up an entire bag of soil—and still feel too heavy to move. Then I discovered this simple trick using something you probably already have (or can grab for a couple bucks).

  1. Cut a pool noodle into sections

  2. Place pieces in the bottom of your planter (fill 1/3–1/2)

  3. Add potting soil on top

  4. Plant as usual
