Are Portable Pools Worth It for Summertime Fun?

Portable Pool or Pool Membership?
As the summer heat settles in, many families seek ways to beat the heat and enjoy quality time together. The age-old question may come up, pool membership? Consider a portable pool! We tried the pool memberships for a couple of years, and honestly it was like most of our New Years Day resolutions, we are really good the first week or two and then we quit going.
After 2 years of the back and forth to the pool to only return 30 minutes after the kids swam and ate, I told my husband enough. We bought our first Intex Portable Pool for the kids. We didn't really know what we were doing so we leveled the ground as much as we could and set it down and filled it up. They had an absolute blast. Pool time went from 20 mins and I am hungry, to pool time of an hour and can we eat outside.
Today I have 15' Intex above ground pool, that i use an elephant pad for surface protection, a sand pump for filtration, and a saltwater pump to maintain the chlorine levels in the pool. I love my saltwater system! Most summers it's add salt and forget it. I have used this type of system for the last 8 years and the only time I have really had to tinder with the salt is when we had a really dry summer where I had to add more water to the pool or when we had a major weather event that went through and elevated my pool water level. At times i do supplement the pool with chlorine tablets.
Benefits of Portable Pools
No packing, driving, parking, walking, finding a place to put your stuff only to hear 20 mins later were ready to go. Portable pools are inexpensive to set up and take anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour for set up time. Depending on your child's age and size there is a portable pool for everyone these days.
Lets be honest, pools get dirty.
With the littler pool, it's really easy to just dump them over pour out the gray water and refill the pool. The larger pools come with a filtration; however, this is just for debris control. Larger pools do require some form or chemical maintenance to avoid bacteria backup. Beginners can use liquid chlorine, and chlorine tabs to treat the water. There are all types of chlorine floater that will hold these chlorine tabs.
Considerations Before Purchase
Pool longevity. Portable pools will eventually need to be replaced due to wear and tear. Know this going into the portable poor purchase.
Water depth and temperature can vary significantly. The hotter or cooler the temperate outside the warmer or cooler the water temperature.
Space limitations can hinder more significant activities like pool games or family gatherings.
Lastly, safety is a paramount concern, especially for families with young children. Portable pools require diligent supervision and safety measures, such as fencing or pool alarms, to prevent accidents. As with all swimming scenarios, ensuring everyone’s safety should be a top priority.
